The Week in Bentos: February 4-8, 2013

by Wendy Copley on February 8, 2013

Hi guys! I have six lunches to share with you today, about half of them with Valentine’s themes. Read on:

Monday

I don’t have a photo for Wyatt’s lunch on Monday because he was home sick.

Tuesday

Preschooler Bento #396

Augie requested that I use the PlanetBox to pack his lunch on Monday and I happily obliged. He had a muffin from a bag of six that I pulled out of the freezer, some dried cranberries, sugar snap peas, pretzel sticks, half of a ruby red grapefruit that I slice up and mini hot dogs.

Third Grade Steeltainer Bento Lunch #709

Wyatt also had a freezer muffin, along with space themed goldfish crackers, mini hot dogs, apple chunks (decorated with a carving technique) and a Laughing Cow cheese wedge. This was packed in our full-size Steeltainer box.

Wednesday

Preschooler Bento #397

Augie also had strong feelings about which lunch box he wanted on Wednesday and he selected one of our Laptop Lunches boxes along with three containers to fit inside. The big box is from one of our Bento Buddies add-on sets. I haven’t used it as often as I thought I would, but it was kind of fun to play with so I think I might make a point to mess around with it again in the near future. I packed this lunch with a big peanut butter and jelly sealed heart sandwich, some strawberry hearts, celery sticks and a muffin decorated with fruit leather I cut into an X and O with these cutters.

The sandwich was made with a heart shaped pocket pie mold that I picked up at Target on Tuesday. I can’t find a link for the exact one I used on the Target site, but this one from Wilton and this one with a little extra heart cutter on Amazon look virtually identical. I’m in the process of putting together a tutorial on how to use these  and you can expect to see it next week some time.

Third Grader Heart Bento #710

Wyatt had a muffin, some dried cranberries, carrots and bean dip, heart shaped ham sandwiches, a few goldfish crackers and some strawberries.

Thursday

Preschooler Bento #398

On Thursday, I packed Augie’s lunch in our Yubo: mini ham and mayo sandwiches with  fruit leather hearts on top, a makeshift strawberry “flower”, saltine crackers, grapes and soy yogurt with heart sprinkles.

Big Kid Thermos Bento #711

Wyatt had leftover bean soup in the Thermos food jar and a side car with strawberries and saltine crackers.  He loved this lunch and ate every bite of it! (This is really rare.)

Friday

Augie was home sick on Friday and since I was up with him half the night I bailed on making lunch for Wyatt and had him eat lunch at school.

Have a great weekend everyone!
