Here are the lunches I packed for the boys during this very short week:
Monday
Wyatt was home from camp because he had an infected bee sting on his foot and we were all crabby.
Tuesday
Tuesday, Augie had a squirrely lunch: turkey and soy cheese squirrel sandwiches with a little acorn decoration, green grapes, raspberries, blackberries, and celery sticks.
Wyatt had raspberries, blackberries, grapes, Chex party mix and a turkey and may sandwich.
Wednesday
4th of July! Woo hoo! Happy birthday, America!
Thursday
Augie’s lunch on Thursday was packed in the panda bento box: grapes, a turkey and mayo sandwich shaped like an “A”, celery, carrots and mini goldfish crackers.
Wyatt had exactly the same lunch except his was packed in our Laptop Lunch box. I also added in some cape gooseberries that a friend gave us the day before.
Have you eaten a cape gooseberry before? I had never seen or tried one until this week. They are very pretty and come in paper husk that looks a bit like a Chinese lantern. In fact, when I saw them on the table at the potluck we were attending I thought they were a decorative centerpiece! The fruit inside is a little tart and tastes a bit like citrus or pineapple. Very yummy! Wyatt liked them enough to ask for them in his lunch, but not enough to eat them because they came home untouched.
Friday
Today, I packed Augie’s lunch in our long neglected Jelly Belly bento box: meatballs, cucumber chunks, strawberries and goldfish crackers.
Wyatt’s lunch had strawberries, mandarin orange wedges, wheat thins, goldfish and meatballs.
Have a great weekend!
