The Week in Bentos: November 14-18, 2011

by Wendy Copley on November 18, 2011

It’s Friday morning and that means it’s time for another round-up of the Copley kids’ lunches! Here’s what the boys ate this week:

Monday

Big Kid Bento #511

On Monday, I packed Wyatt’s lunch in the Laptop Lunch Box: a few pepperoni slices, baked tofu, grapes, whole wheat pretzels, a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and strips of garlic naan.

Tuesday

Preschool Bento #181

Augie’s lunch on Tuesday was leftover chunks of chicken, peas, dried apricots and cranberries and a little, heart-shaped pb&j sandwich.

Wednesday

Preschool Bento #182

The lunch I packed Augie for Wednesday had carrot sticks, Tuscan white bean sandwiches made with our heart de sand cutter, granola with raisins and pineapple chunks.

Big Kid Bento #512

Wyatt’s lunch was packed into the Easy Lunchbox and it held strawberry jam sandwiches cut into the shapes of Darth Vadar and his Tie Fighter, orange wedges, pineapple chunks and some leftover chicken.

Thursday

Preschool Bento #183

Thursday was launch day! Or, in other words, I packed a few spaced-theme lunches for the boys. Augie’s lunch had clementine wedges, a whole wheat dinner roll with a primitive rocket ship drawn on it (I used these food-safe markers), turkey roll-ups, grapes with cool robot pick and some hella cute space-themed Goldfish crackers.

Incidentally, I had to go back to the cracker aisle of the grocery store twice in order get the goldfish because the first two times I tried two meth addicts were making out right in front of the goldfish. True story!

Big Kid Bento #513

Wyatt’s lunch was very similar: clementines, a Laughing Cow cheese wedge, spacey Goldfish, grapes, a bun with a planet on it, and pepperoni.

Friday

Preschooler Bento #184

Today Augie had deli turkey, carrot sticks, clementines and more spaceg Goldfish.

Big Kid Bento #514

And Wyatt had the exact same lunch, but with a bun swapped in for the carrot sticks. I think it’s cool to see these two lunches side by side because you really get a feel for how two lunches can use (basically) the same ingredients but end up looking very different because of the way the items are arranged.

Have a great weekend!
