Feeding Myself Breakfast

by Wendy Copley on March 12, 2013

I am such a frazzled mom cliche in the mornings. I run around the house finding shoes, packing lunches, barking reminders about homework and fixing breakfast for my kids, but I rarely take the time to get my own day started off with nutritious food. I make the time to guzzle 2 or 3 cups of tea, but if I eat anything it’s usually a piece of buttered toast — or worse, the scraps leftover after making the kids’ lunches. Shameful!

Yopa! Yogurt

One of my informal goals this year is to get my days off to a healthier start and to find a little balance by taking care of myself as well as taking care of my children. Part of this involves eating something with actually nutritive value every morning before I take the kids to school. (I’m usually good about getting something together after I drop them off, but by the time I eat it’s often as late as 10:00 am.) The other part of this is making sure I shower every single day — but that’s another topic for another day.

When I was given the opportunity to sample Yopa! yogurt, I was pleased by how nicely it supported my goal. It’s convenient of course — I can just open the container, dump the included granola on top and dig in while I’m doing my morning kitchen stuff. But I also like that the greek yogurt is higher in protein than regular yogurt. For me, eating a little protein in the mornings — eggs, peanut butter, yogurt, or other dairy — is the key to feeling full until lunch. The blueberries and granola included with this yogurt satisfy my sweet tooth and when I pair it with a serving of fruit, I’m happy until lunch time.

Speaking of balance, gold medalist Gabby Douglas is an expert, and she’s challenging you to take the Yopa! Taste Challenge where you can win a variety of prizes, including $10,000! Just “like” Yopa! on Facebook for a chance to win and to grab a coupon for $.50 (or more!) off one cup of Yopa! Authentic Greek Yogurt.
