Haul Video: Daiso Bento Swag

by Wendy Copley on August 27, 2012

I made another haul video showing what I picked up on a recent trip to Daiso for bento supplies:

If you don’t want to watch the video or if you’d like to get a better look at the stuff I bought here are some photos of the stuff in the video:

Daiso Haul

Star-shaped silicone ice mold. I’m not sure how I’ll use this exactly (besides for ice) but I liked the idea to freeze yogurt in this tutorial on Bentoriffic from Lise LaTorre of Veggie-Bento.

Cute but kinda girly picks my boys will likely forbid me to use. Maybe I could make some sort of “chest of pirate’s treasure” with the jewels? I dunno.

Daiso Haul

Star and pig-shaped silicone cups. I’m not really as excited about these as I said I was in the video, I don’t think, but I do like them.

And finally, we have the U-shaped knife for carving food, the silicone food dividers and the small cutters with the pusher-outers on them. Again, I may have over-exaggerated my feelings about not being able to find any baran at the bento store, but one gets caught up in these things when one is making a video about bento supplies.

What supplies have you bought for bento recently?

So jealous of your proximity to Daiso but maybe it’s for teh best because I would live in that place 🙂

Which Daiso did you buy these in? I was just in three or four different Daisos and I didn’t see those circle cutters but I definitely WANT! 😀

  • I went to the one in Union City. I’m pretty sure that I got the little cutters in the kitchen area rather than the bento area but I can’t be positive.

  • I have almost the same silicone star ice cube tray. I’ve been making frozen yogurt in it and Paige thinks it’s amazing. Ethan is on the fence.
Those piggie dishes are adorable. I’ve had them in my drawer for a couple years and haven’t used them once. 🙁 They seem too shallow to be very useful. I’m curious about that circle pusher-outer. Update how you feel about it after a few uses!

Nice Hawl – I almost picked up that carving tool on my last trip in. I’m looking forward to seeing how you use it.

I went on Sunday too, to the one in Cupertino. I picked up a strawberry box set that has two different-sized boxes, very small though, for snacks really, but perfect for my girls, as well as animal crackers with the names printed on them. And then a TON of other non-bento things. But when I’m there, I always wonder why I’m the only non-Asian person in the store. Like, I can’t believe more people like me don’t realize how awesome it is and go and shop there. Do you find that’s true for the stores you shop in?

  • Love your haul!! Sadly, I don’t have a Daiso anywhere near me, so I’m green with envy over your cute [and CHEAP] buys! I can’t wait to see what you do with all of these.

You have a JAPANESE dollar store?! So. Jealous.

Although, I wouldn’t have any space to store all the stuff. I did buy a puzzle shape sandwich cutter yesterday…
